pansy - אַמְנוֹן וְתָמָר
Agricultural Information:
Plant Family: Violaceae
Scientific name: Viola × wittrockiana
Pansies are small, colorful flowering plants known for their “faces” and bright petals in a wide range of colors and sizes. They are native to Europe and Western Asia and commonly grown as cool-season flowers as they can tolerate a light frost.
Pansies are well loved for small gardens as they grow compact plants with many blooms when other plants are dormant. Removing faded flowers (deadheading) encourages the plant to keep blooming throughout the season.
Flowers from the pansy plant are edible and are used culinarily to add beauty and color to both sweet and savory dishes.
